experience
Cigna and ACE (September
97 - present time):
Crawley United Kingdom
Senior Analyst programmer
During those two and half
year I was involve on several projects with 3 different countries
(Germany, France and the UK). While at Cigna which then became ACE, I
have learn a lot technically and also on the business side:
On the technical side
- I have improved a lot my Power builder development working in a team with good coding standards and in an application with more than 400 screens. I have coded from scratch some part of the application (I have design a generic Insurance policy document generator to produce MSWord document with data from our Sybase Database using Rich Text templates).
- I have also done a lot of Sybase development; our application is a 2 and ½ tier which mean that most of our logic is in stored procedure.
- C++ development (porting and improvement of all our backend programmes from an NT platform to a Linux platform). Those programs were originally written with Borland C++.
- Installation and configuration of several Linux server. Those servers were running Samba, Sybase SQL server and all our backend program written in C++.
- Some Web development using HTML, JavaScript, Colfusion and SylverStream.
- Used some technology like OLE.
- I have used versioning system like PVCS and the Lotus Notes database to track our bugs? report.
On the business side
- Good knowledge of the insurance business, I have followed all the internal training that I could get
- I had the opportunity to see the business from 3 different countries and work closely with them. I have participated to the Euro project.
- I was also involved in project design.
Training
- Went on some Power Builder courses and seminar.
-
Did some user training especially in France and the UK.

LONDON W1V OEE, United Kingdom
Analyst programmer
- Development of front office applications under Windows 3.1 using MS Visual C/C++ and PowerBuilder. The main aspects of my duties involved writing Windows DLLs (in C) used by PowerBuilder in order to display some financial graphics.
- Sybase development on SQL server 10 and 11 (went on a Sybase course).
- Frequent use of the HP UX as a user or eventually as a system administrator to customise the machine to my needs (compilation and installation of the Bourne Again Shell).
- Was involve in the maintenance of the database feed.
- Had an introduction to finance.
The project I have been
working on was covering a vast aria, gave me the opportunity to work
on a big database and show me how to solve day to day problems
especially with historical data which are not always accurate. My job
was to design some tools to correct them and make them available to
the user. It
